Mortier, Cory and Mason Families

Tombstone of John Mortier (1797-1866), the immigrant ancestor of the Wisconsin Mortiers in America.  Although the tombstone states that John Mortier was 75 years old at the time of his death, the 1860 Federal Census indicates that he was born in about 1797, resulting in an age at death of only 69.  John is buried in Zion Cemetery, Jefferson County, Wisconsin.  Photo was taken by Phil Norfleet in 1998.
